The 2010-2011 recipient of the Minnesota MAEOPP Board of Directors Scholarship is Mary Godi, a participant in the TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) program at Augsburg College. Mary came to Augsburg after her parents were murdered in Sudan. She says, "With the help of TRiO SSS I was encouraged to look within myself for what coming to the United States meant to me. TRiO helps me work around the stumbling blocks to higher education. I've learned to reach out when I need help and learned to set academic, personal, and financial goals. TRiO has helped me regain my sense of happiness, humbleness, my outstanding academic performance, and a sense of moving forward despite my struggles." Mary is also very involved in her community, tutoring and volunteering. Mary Godi is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Education to be a pre-primary education teacher.
